FAMILY THERAPY
Parents
My work is driven by the belief that the adolescent brain works differently and that these differences must be addressed early on in order to make an impact. It’s also very important to ensure that parents understand the differences and take an active role in therapy.
Most parents are not aware how and why an adolescent mind works the way it does…..”why don’t they listen to me?” “why does she flip out on me like it’s the end of the world?”, “he just doesn’t care”
Once the parent understands this concept it should facilitate communication, ease frustration and better equip the parent to guide the child in the correct path.
Parent involvement and guidance is key in therapy. Children are much more likely to excel and achieve their goals if their parents are there to help guide them.
